Tablet sleeve review

TabZoo tablet sleeveThis item was provided for me to review by the folks at MobileZap. This is not however a sponsored post. I call ’em as I see ’em.

Today Kwez and I got together with our young pre-schooler friend to put a TagZoo universal tablet sleeve through its paces. As you can see from the image , the product is designed for kids, hence my choice of co-reviewer.

My first impression – seems like a quality product. It feels robust and well made, with thick Neoprene padding offering good  protection for the tablet. The eyes are embroidered which gives it a touch of class. The zips are well padded to protect little fingers. We tried it with an iPad mini and it fitted just fine. The sleeve we tried can accommodate up to 8″ tablets. TagZoo also make covers for 10″ tablets. As you can see from the product image, a nifty feature of the sleeve is that it doubles as a stand for the tablet. This is accomplished by putting the tablet between the “two sets of teeth” that the tablet sports. We found the tablet to be stable in this position while just looking at it AND when swiping and tapping controls.

Enough of my adult impressions. Here is the opinion of a member of the target audience, Miss A, aged 4 and a half.

Hey that looks funny. I think it is a dinosaur.

After a quick demo of the sleeve as a stand.

It looks like it will chomp my tablet with its teeth.

After putting the tablet in the sleeve.

See it did eat my tablet. But I can do the zip and get it back from its pink mouth when I want it.

My only quibble with the sleeve is that the child may be so into “feeding the tablet” to the monster, that they might put it away while still on.
